THE ULTIMATE BRONZED SMOKEY EYE - RED CARPET REALNESS PART 2

GORGEOUS SMOULDERING EYES

Here is how to achieve the most luxurious, alluring and sexy smokey eyes that will make you the envy of everyone. Too many women are creating harsh blackish smokey eyes rather than layering shades that give beautiful colour and depth around the eyes. Here is my technique along with some of my favourite eye shadow palettes and products to create the perfect look. All these eye shadow palettes are in my kit and love to mix them for different looks.

Always start with the smokey eye first so you can clean up the fall out under the eye area. You can then have a clean canvas when you do your primer, foundation etc.

I love to use several eyeshadow palettes to create a smokey eye look. Being a fine artist as well, blending several colours create dimension to the eye rather than using just one or two shades. Listed are some of my favourite warm toned palettes, which work for EVERY skin tone.

I like to prep the eyelid with either a primer for extra long wear / prevent creasing.

BROWS: Next step is fill in the brow creating a nice arch and a bit of weight to frame the eyes. Heavy, filled in brows are not my thing because they look artificial and not flattering. If I am going for a full on brow, I tend to go the 1990’s Linda Evangelista route, defined with an arch. One of my favourite eyebrow pencils is KVD Vegan Beauty Precision Signature Brow Pencil , which does what it says. Its petite, tapered tip lets you create light strokes that blend with your nataural brow. For those who like a heavier brow, this pencil will allow you to create some detailed brows.

EYES: After applying the primer, I use a mid-tone neutral matte shade be the base colour (depending on skin tone: warm beige, clay to taupe). Line the upper eye lid with the black liner, take a fluffy brush to blend and diffuse. When you layer the additional colour over the eye. KVD Vegan Beauty Cake Eyeliner in Trooper Black is long wearing and a very rich, dark black. LOVE! Follow with a mid-tone shade blending from the outer corner of the eye toward the center, then blend over the lid and go along the lower lash line. With a clean brush, take the darkest smoke shade and blend over mid-tone shade to create a layer of depth. Using a clean brush for each layer prevents the look from becoming muddy. I like to use my finger to apply the shimmer/ metallic shade on the lid, then use a brush to slightly diffuse so there aren’t any harsh lines. For a inner corner pop, apply a lighter shimmer or metallic in the inner “V” . Use a golden shade, rose gold, to deep gold/ bronze for darker skin tones. For evening, go for a bold metallic gold or bronze/ rose gold. Try MAC Cosmetics new Dazzleshadow Extreme: Kiss of Klimt: Buttercream, Object D’Art: Electric Ochre with Silver Sparkle or Yes to Sequins: Light Gold with Pink Pearl This new range of eye shadows have a molten metallic finish, saturated and a 12-hour staying power. Link will take you to see the range of shades.

Go over the black liner along the upper lash line to add finish to the shape. You can create a winged out line for more drama. Curl your lashes, not a crimp rather move the eyelash curler up the lashes to create a “curl” Apply several coats of mascara, a personal favourite Flower Beauty’s Warrior Princess Mascara

For the finale, add a pair of Lilly Lashes Faux Mink Lashes in Miami These are Cruelty-Free

The look on the left was a combination of LORAC PRO Palette and MAC Cosmetics ART LIBRARY: Nude Model and Flame-boyant See below the images and links for the palettes.

RED CARPET REALNESS OSCARS STYLE PART 1

#GLAMOROUS #SKIN

Who doesn’t love watching all the makeup and dress looks on the red carpet at the Oscars? Oscar night brings out the most sophisticated Hollywood glamour that we all aspire to do our own version of it. That is my “red carpet realness”. Taking the look and creating a version of it or making it our own. I LOVE to do full on makeup for the red carpet. Nothing is more satisfying than taking a blank canvas and making it into glowing masterpiece with a big happy smile. I am known and specifically booked for my skin, foundation technique, which I refer as “marinated” skin. Meaning seamless, hydrated, luminous skin that gets better with wear. If you follow the next steps using these “ingredients”, you will have your own perfect red carpet plus everyday glow.

My number one rule is to prep the skin first. Apply a mask like Tatcha’s Luminous Dew Skin Mask or Luminous Deep Hydration Lifting Mask, both are great after a long day and or long flight. I follow with Tatcha’s The Dewy Skin Cream, then The Silk Canvas + Becca’s First Light Primer. This combination is a holy grail of prepping your skin into a flawless canvas. Think of a painter applying gesso to the canvas before painting.

Clinique’s Smart Clinical MD Multi-Dimensional Age Transformer Duo Resculpt + Revolumize Cream is another winner for supple, glowing skin.

Stay tuned for my next post covering the best foundations and other tips and tricks.
